September 2, 2024 @ 9:00 am - February 28, 2025 @ 11:30 pm

Solivita Community Garden

$25.00 – $50.00

Description
Fall 2024 – Solivita Community Gardener Application

Thank you for your interest in having your own 4’x6′ bed in our Community Garden!  Your completed application and payment ensure your place in the random drawing for a season of gardening.  Payment will be returned if you do not make the drawing.

Seasons, Fees and Garden Bed Heights

The Solivita Community Garden has two growing seasons.  Gardeners need to renew their interest in each season for a chance in the random drawing, for each growing season.
– Spring Season: March through August
and
– Fall Season: September through February

Garden Bed Plots are assigned by random drawing based on availability.  The garden bed plot heights are:
– Most garden beds are at 24″ height
and
– Limited garden beds are at 32″ height.

Gardener Application Fees:
– New Applicants are charged $50.  Of the $50, $25 is a deposit that is held, and given back when gardeners, who do not wish to renew, or do not win the chance drawing for the growing season, clean out their garden bed and return their community garden key.
and
– Returning Applicants are charged $25.

Solivita Community Garden Rules
Garden Fees and Plot Terms

Garden rules inform the gardener of the expectations of participating in the Community Garden.

· I agree to pay $50 to Avatar Properties Inc Solivita Club to cover the cost of gardening at the site for one (1) growing season.  Part of this fee is refundable ($25) when you no longer wish to garden and upon satisfactory cleanup of my garden plot (including removal of plants and roots) and return of the gate key.

· Each consecutive season a gardener must re-apply along with payment of $25 to Avatar Properties Inc Solivita Club.  If you do not make the random drawing, your $25 fee will be refunded.

· Due to the limited number of plots available in the Community Garden, gardeners and plots will be selected by a random drawing; plot requests will not be accepted.

· Applications for garden plots are accepted for the next season at any time at the Lifestyles Activities office where we hold your application and postmarked check date until the random drawing date.

· Garden plots are assigned to one per household and are not transferable.

· If all plots are not assigned, a random drawing is held that includes all gardeners in that season.  Winners of the drawing may keep the additional plot for that season only.

· If a plot becomes unkempt, a notice will be sent to the responsible gardener requesting that action be taken to clean up the plot/area.  If conditions do not improve within seven (7) days, the plot and garden fee will be forfeited.

Garden General Rules

In the spirit of cooperation, all gardeners shall treat the Community Garden and other gardeners with respect and consideration.  No stealing (harvesting from others’ plots without authorization) or any form of harassment is allowed.  Violation of this rule will result in immediate expulsion from the garden and no return of plot fee.  Gardeners understand that this is a Community Garden and in order for it to succeed, gardener support is needed to maintain the site, manage compost, keep on top of equipment, make signs, deal with wildlife, and help keep the site clear from debris.

In addition:

· Children are welcome at the Community Garden when accompanied and fully supervised by an adult.

· Guests are permitted in the Community Garden but are held to the same rules as their host gardener adheres to.  Only two (2) guests at a time, please.

· Golf carts are NOT allowed in the Community Garden or on the entrance walkway.

· Gardeners agree not to bring pets or glass containers inside the Community Garden.

· There will be no smoking, alcohol, or eating allowed inside the Community Garden.

· Growing or using illegal substances in the Community Garden will lead to immediate expulsion with no return of plot fee.

· Gardeners will not make any changes to the Community Garden without approval of the Garden Trustees.

· Harvested items may not be sold for personal profit.

· Should you wish to listen to music, only the use of head-phones is permitted.
